PROFESSIONAL HELICOPTER PILOT TRAINING
The helicopter commercial pilot / CPL (H) training includes the theory training of a commercial pilot, in which case there are 750 hours of theory and 135 hours of flight training. The course lasts approx. 18 months. As a full-time study, the duration is about 1.5 years, depending on your activity level. The training provides the skills to work as a helicopter pilot in commercial aviation or in special aviation work. After the training, there is also the possibility to specialize in HEMS operations after the necessary flight experience and further training. SL Flight Training | Salpauslento is an educational institution approved by Kela, so a professional pilot student accepted for the study line is entitled to study grants for secondary education. In Finland, the biggest employers of helicopter pilots are Helsinki Citycopter, a medical helicopter / HEMS operation, where various accident victims are encountered and assisted every day, as well as various companies that perform helicopter flying work. The most common employer of helicopter pilots abroad is
helicopter companies that perform charter flights and, for example, passenger transport to oil ferries. In Finland, diverse work flying tasks are also performed with single-engine equipment. In the work flight tasks of helicopters, the operation is mobile and requires the pilot to travel and be flexible.
The sections of the helicopter pilot study line are:
o Private pilot license training PPL(H)

The applicant can be accepted for training without previous flight experience or as a PPL(H) license holder. The holder of the PPL(H) license is credited for the experience in accordance with the regulations and the credit is taken into account in the price of the training.
Students who have successfully completed the professional helicopter pilot training program have the opportunity to work as a pilot for Helsinki Citycopter, but also for various other helicopter operators. In addition to Helsinki Citycopter, the helicopter pilots we train work for e.g. Employed by FinnHEMS, but also abroad.

You can apply for the Professional Helicopter Pilot Study Program for one year
around, but the application stages are usually organized in the fall. Courses
